Little Monsters

On May 27th Emerson turned 1. For his first birthday party we knew we wanted the theme to represent his budding personality. After many months of what we called his "monster noises," Emerson helped us make an easy decision. Monsters it was!

Turning one!

The monster cakes were fun to make, but of course they didn't look like the picture I had in my head. I am working on my cake decorating skills for next year. The big green monster was eaten by everyone and Emerson had the little orange guy all to himself.
The smash cake.

Emerson wasn't so sure about having orange and green monster cake on his hands. He kept looking at his hands and then looking at everyone around him wondering why his hands were dirty and no one was rushing to help him clean them off.

Nana Curling and Mimi worked hard as the clean up crew. We found bits of green gel stuck on his high chair for several days after his party.

Cousin Lincoln got to taste the cake too.

Strolling around the yard with Mimi and Nana.

After some family portraits, Emerson was thrilled to know it was "present time".

He investigated his presents quite a bit before choosing the first one he wanted to open. He enjoyed all of the bows and wrapping paper. He especially took an interest in the bow on his present from Allison and Brian.
Emerson choose this one to open first.

He loved riding back and forth across the floor in his new wagon.

It was a great party!
